Dr. Douglas B. Wright, DC

Dr. Wright grew up in Greenlawn NY and is a graduate of Harborfields High School. He describes a life changing experience at the age of 11 which brought him into the field of chiropractic. Dr. Wright was a severe asthmatic as a child and was told that he would never be able to over-exert himself and would have to use an inhaler for the rest of his life.

One day during gym, while playing dodgeball, he had a severe asthma attack and found himself at Huntington Hospital. At the hospital, the doctors performed an emergency tracheotomy in the hallway which saved his life.

At this point, his parents were at their wits end with his condition so they decided to take the advice of a family friend who understood chiropractic care not only as a treatment of removing nerve interference to muscles causing neck an back pain, but also to the nerves that innervate organs such as the bronchi and lungs.

Out of desperation, his parents took him to a chiropractor in East Northport who adjusted a vertebrae in his back that was compressing a nerve which go to the bronchi and lungs. Dr. Wright felt immediate relief, as if a weight was lifted off of his chest. Since that first treatment, he has never had an asthma attack. He has been adjusted weekly ever since and from that point on, he knew he was going to be a chiropractor.

Dr. Douglas B. Wright graduated from SUNY Albany with a degree in biology. He went on to the New York Chiropractic College, where he graduated in 1989. He holds a post graduate degree in neurology and has been in private practice for the past 25 years in Northport NY.
